Why Self looks empty
New account, cloud sync off, or no data yet — how to fix each case.
Before you start
- Signed in to Hub on at least one device.
Steps
- 1
Check the banner at the top of Self — red means cloud Self is disabled; amber may be a partial load.
- 2
Cloud sync off: enable “Sync persona to cloud” in Settings → FlyType Self (Hub) or the Cloud sync toggle in the Self tab (Mac/mobile).
- 3
Training opt-out: Settings → Privacy → disable training opt-out if you want cloud Companion and briefs.
- 4
Brand-new account: complete Self onboarding (5 min) and dictate or add a note — brief and chat need a little data first.
- 5
Chat history empty is normal — you should still see the composer; if you see a decode error, update the app.
- 6
Memory search on Free plan may show upgrade — Trial/Pro unlocks unified memory search.
Common mistakes
- Brief loads independently from chat history — one failing section should not blank the whole screen.
- Life notebook (opt-in) pulls notes and dictation into Self over time — not instant on day one.
- Team accounts: personal Self data stays per user, not shared with admins.
