Deep Research & Research Shell
Plan web research, check coverage gaps, analyze articles, and scope chat to selected sources.
Before you start
- Pro or trial with Mind notebook selected.
Steps

Open a Mind notebook → Deep Research panel (Hub) or Deep Research in Mac chat/Sources header.

Enter a research goal → Build plan → search each step → select URLs → Add selected sources. The last plan is saved on the notebook and resumes after restart.

Optional: Coverage gap — compare the goal to sources already in the notebook.

Article analysis: open a Ready source → Analyze for a structured brief (button-only; not auto on ingest).

Scoped chat: use the Sources filter in chat to send source_ids for the next question; tap a citation for chunk preview.

Related strip suggests similar sources; Studio research_report adds a citation-audited write-up; Obsidian export can include analysis/research briefs.

Usage meter: Trial limited research runs/month; Pro unlimited (see plan).
Common mistakes
- Preview search hits before ingest to avoid low-quality SEO spam.
- Mac multi-select Sources filter omits source_ids when all (or none) are selected — backend uses all ready sources.
- Mind Scripts lite stays off by default until you opt in (Settings → Mind Scripts) and ops enables MIND_SCRIPTS_LITE.
