macOS
Recovered dictation not transcribed yet
A recording rescued after a crash is waiting — retry transcription without losing the audio.
Steps
- 1
If dictation is interrupted by a crash or power loss, FlyType keeps the audio and transcribes it automatically on the next launch.
- 2
Each rescued recording gets up to 5 automatic attempts; after that it is parked and the banner shows how many are waiting.
- 3
Press Retry on the banner — parked recordings get a fresh round of attempts (helps after an engine update or when the machine was low on memory).
- 4
Once transcription succeeds, the text lands in Notes as a regular capture and the recording leaves the queue.
- 5
Nothing is deleted silently: the audio stays in the recovery folder until transcription succeeds or you remove it yourself.
Common mistakes
- If retries keep failing, the file is likely damaged — the reason of the last failure is kept in the app log.
- Pending uploads are a different case — see «Sync and outbox stuck».
