Folder import and dedup

Preview folders or zip archives before upload; choose how to handle duplicates. Your folder stays local — Mind indexes text in the cloud.

Before you start

  • Signed in, notebook open.
  • Mac, Windows, or Hub for folder/zip preview (mobile: single-file picker with batch caps).

Steps

  1. 1

Open Add sources → Files → Import folder (Mac/Windows/Hub) or drop a .zip on Hub.

  2. 2

Preview lists files with size, duplicate-name hints, and already-indexed badges (SHA-256 fingerprint).

  3. 3

Select files to upload — Hub/desktop allow up to 200 per batch; mobile caps at 50 files.

  4. 4

Choose duplicate policy: Skip (keep existing source), Replace (re-ingest same source id), or Allow (create with duplicate_of link).

  5. 5

Upload sends bytes once; server extracts text/chunks/embeddings into Postgres — not a folder mirror.

  6. 6

Optional origin metadata (local path, cloud file id) is stored for refresh — chat always reads indexed text.

  7. 7

Oversize single file? Trial ~64 MB, Pro ~200 MB — use Hub for large archives.

Common mistakes

  • We never claim to «copy your folder» — only indexed content powers chat and Studio.
  • Skip duplicates is best for re-running folder sync; Replace when the file changed on disk.
  • Mobile import limit alert links to Hub Mind for large batches.
