Your first dictation
Speak once and see polished text — desktop hotkey or mobile record button.
Before you start
- Signed in and microphone permission granted.
- Desktop: Accessibility enabled (Mac) or FlyType focused (Windows).
Steps

Open any app where you can type — Notes, Mail, Slack, or FlyType itself.

Desktop: hold your dictation hotkey (default fn on Mac). Mobile: tap the microphone button on the Dictation tab.

Speak a short sentence: "Hello, this is my first FlyType dictation."

Release the hotkey (or tap Stop). Watch the recording HUD — partial words appear while you speak.

Polished text inserts at the cursor (desktop) or copies to the field (mobile keyboard). Undo with Cmd/Ctrl+Z if needed.
Common mistakes
- Say «запятая» / comma or «точка» / period while speaking to insert punctuation marks.
- If nothing appears, check Troubleshooting → Microphone not working.
- Whisper mode: speak quietly; FlyType still captures when mic level moves.
- Try Command Mode later: select text, dictate a transform like "make this formal."
